What Color of Goggle Lens Should I Have?
Generally speaking, the darker colored lenses let less light through, so are great to block out the sun. The lighter color lenses allow more light in, which is advantageous on darker, cloudier days. Aside from color, each lens is given a VLT rating in % (Visual Light Transmission). The lower the VLT-%, the less light will be allowed in, which is best for sunny days. The higher the VLT-%, the more light is allowed in, and this is optimal for cloudy and snowy days.
Some goggles come with changeable lenses so that you can remove one lens and add another to better suit the weather conditions. Ski or snowboard goggles in our product range can come with a free second lens.
Should Kids Wear Ski Goggles?
Yes, it is important for kids to wear ski goggles as it provides protection from the different weather conditions while skiing and improves their visibility. The lens on junior ski goggles not only blocks out harmful UV light from the sun, but it acts as a shield from wind and snow. The additional benefit to this is that it keeps your child's face warm.
There are many different features of kids’ snow goggles that can help you decide on a particular model. Influential features to look out for include anti fog technology, OTG which stands for Over The Glasses (for children that wear eyeglasses) and interchangeable lenses. Having an additional lens that can be interchanged allows you to have a lens for bright, sunny days and a lens for darker, snowy days. The best kids’ ski goggles will have a combination of these features, if not all of them.
Dressing your children appropriately is one of the other foundations for them to have a good skiing experience. For keeping them warm, they should be wearing thermal clothing as base layers. To see our collection, check out Ski Base Layers.
